This is one of my very favorite times of the year!
I get to discuss one of my very topics, Black History. Each year here at Urban Sounds we take a special pride in presenting our version of Black History Month.
For me this year is even more special, since we also get a chance to celebrate the recent announcement of a new stamp in honor of the master teacher, Malcolm X.
I have read his Autobiography at several different points in my life and each time the impact of his words has been most profound and always causes me to ponder my own role as a Black man, living here in America and just where the future is leading. Malcolm's words are always about the past, present and future. He always provides food for thought whether you agree with his perspectives or not, he provides advice for daily living that's just as relevant today, as it was over 30 years ago when he left this earth.

I strongly urge you to read his Autobiography. And if you have already read it, please take the time to read it again. It's full of wisdom from a man who wanted Black people to learn how to do one simple thing...........(to love each other!)

In the meantime, please take the time to read the material that is accessible at the links bellow. We feel that the articles, essays, poetry, etc, represent the very best in Urban Contemporary thought, in words, sounds and images. All of the web pages listed here are all original, and come from right here at Urban Sounds

Some people may think that we shouldn't discuss anything but the music itself here, our reply to that is to paraphrase the "Godfather" James Brown... "We are TALKING LOUD and SAYING SOMETHING..." --Bob Davis - 2/1/98
