Doo Wop and Variety Show

NYC Soul-Patrol Event: Marlon Saunders and Angela Johnson (w/Jeremy James & April Hill) in Concert @ the Cutting Room (10/14/05)

Marlon Saunders and Angela Johnson

Marlon Saunders and Angela Johnson are two artists that we have been featuring here on Soul-Patrol. Both have new CD's that are excellent, and if you have been paying attention to what we have been doing here, that should come as no surprise to you. I have seen Marlon Saunders perform live many times and each time I have seen him, it's been a different experience. His shows are highly soulful, and he literally attacks the music from a jazz perspective, mixing together a set of Classic Soul joints, with his own original songs. He threads all of this together into a cohesive suite of music that will make you think that you are witnessing the reincarnation of Curtis Mayfield or Donny Hathaway. I have yet to see Angela Johnson perform live so this will be my first experience with her and based on her CD's I am looking forward to it. I have seen April Hill and Jeremy James before and I can assure you, they are telents to be reconed with for the future.

This should be quite a historic evening of great soul music, presented within a framework of peace and positivity. If you are a sceptic, take this as an oppurtunity to expand your mind, beyond the boundries of Clear Channel, BET, Cathy Hughes and other media entities who tell us that Soul music has no future and join us for what promises to be a great night of REAL soul music.

If you would like to hook up with Soul-Patrol offline at this event, please contact our NYC Coordinador Cheryl Russell via email for discount tickets, to participate in our meet and greet with the artists and more at these events

NYC Soul-Patrol Event: Sonny Boy (w/Ola Onabule) in Concert @ Franks Place (10/15/05)

Sonny Boy
Sonny Boy is one of Soul-Patrol's all time favorite artists. He truly embodies the term "Great Black Music From The Ancient To The Future". His musical influences range from Hendrix, Sly Stone, Al Green, Prince, D'Angelo and he makes absolutely no apologies about that. He is a diverse artist, who plays tha funk and is on a mission to literally "save black music from itself". He's got a new CD that will be released soon called "Psyco-Delic Ghetto Vibe" , that we will be featuring soon on the Soul-Patrol website. In the meantime, take advantage of this oppurtunity to hear them play the songs from the new album live, as well as the songs from his award winning CD from a few years ago "Urban Misfit in Concert @ Franks Place in Brooklyn on 10/15/05 starting at 8pm.

Los Angeles Soul-Patrol Event: Leon Ware in Concert @ Temple Bar (10/21/05)

Leon Ware

We would like to welcome Leon Ware to Soul-Patrol by inviting you to attend his upcoming show in Los Angeles....

Taken from his website....

From the lips of songwriter/singer great Leon Ware, philosophy, sexuality and comedy often co-exist within the same statement. It is the signature characteristic of one devilishly evolved angel - a man deeply in touch with thewhisper-thin strands of synchronicity that cradle our existence on this earth like a weathered hammock in the breeze. Of course the name of Leon Ware is well known among Black music fans. He played a central role in the careers of people like Marvin Gaye, Minnie Riperton, Micheal Jackson, Maxwell and others. Watch out for his new CD called "A Kiss In The Sand" to be featured soon on the Soul-Patrol site. Do yourselves a favor and take advantage of this chance to see the legendary Leon Ware in concert in Los Angeles on 10/21 @ the Temple Bar. And if you go, bring a date, cuz with Leon Ware at the helm, you are sure to "get lucky" after the show...

NYC Soul-Patrol Event: The Doo Wop and Variety Show (Pookie Hudson/Spaniels, Tony Del Vecchio/Yesterdays News, Vito Balsamo, Earl Lewis/Channels, Eugene Pitt/Jive Five, Frankie Lyman's Legendary Teenagers, Bobby Thomas/Orioles, Johnny Reed Tribute) @ Queesborough Community College (10/21/05)

Doo Wop and Variety Show
If you are under the age of 60, right about now you just might be asking yourself, "why should I be interested in attending a doo wop show??? Well the answer is really quite simple. You see going to a doo wop show is just plain fun, it really is all about the the elegance and simplicity of seeing and hearing people manipulate the human voice in precise hamony, that was initially perfected on ghetto streetcorners 50 years ago. What could be more elegant than that? On top of all that what you also will get with this show is a full blown variety show along with a great doo wop concert, featuring some of the true "masters of the game", like Pookie Hudson, Earl Lewis, Eugene Pitt and others. I'll have quite a bit more to say about this show here on the Soul-Patrol Newsletter next week. I'll be at this show and I plan on having a BLAST.

National Alliance of Native Americans.Inc. presents a Doo Wop and Variety Show featuring:
