NEW RELEASE: Maty Soul - "The Price Of Consciousness"

Maty SoulI hope that yall don't mind when we introduce a new artist? I am quite pleased and proud to announce the release of this new album. A few of you all will remember the French artist with the sultry voice named Maty Soul, from a few years ago, when she appeared on the Soul-Patrol.com Digital/Virtual Album 1.0 (now out of print). She contributed a track called "Love Jones" to our groundbreaking digital album project. Well now she's finally released the album for which the song "Love Jones" was ultimatly intended and it's called; "The Price Of Consciousness." I dig the album and have placed several songs from it into the rotation on the NuSoul @ Radioio.com channel.

This album is NO JOKE...it deals with a number of very serious topics that Black American Artists should be ashamed of themselves for not addressing in their music in 2010!!!

The recording was done the vintage way, capturing a sound and warmth that have become rare today. Recording sessions were held in Paris. The Album was mixed in Philadelphia. During the process, Maty Soul also travelled to New York and Kingston Jamaïca, giving her album a special worldwide flavor.

"The Price Of Consciousness" features contributions from some of the most talented session musicians - Drummer Gene Lake (Meshell Ndegeocello, Maxwell), bassist Michel Alibo, singer Karen Bernod (Mary J Blige, Chaka Khan), producer Rashad Smith (Lauryn Hill, Notorious B.I.G., Erykah Badu) - and engineers in the game, including Grammy winning Jon Smeltz (Dave Chappelle's Block Party, Al Green...) and Russell Elevado (Alicia Keys, Common, D'Angelo's "Voodoo", Bilal...). All of them contributed their invaluable experience to That Natural High (the producers and composers consisting of Maty Soul and Walking Bass). Walking Bass is also featured as a rapper on two songs. Guitarist Eric Delval is the arranger.

Maty Soul's first full-length album is a thought-provoking collection of songs consisting of fourteen tracks, no fillers. It features lyrics about social awareness, multiracialism and love. She dedicates "Enfants De Martin Luther King" to that human rights icon, covers Bob Marley's "War" and also pays tribute to Lauryn Hill by singing "Forgive Them Father" as an interlude.

The album's title basically expresses that taking the path of conscience is not an easy choice. One may pay for not fitting in with the crowd and not keeping silent about things that matter. But most importantly by choosing this path, one will open the doors of Freedom, and Truth, in an intense life.

LATEST SINGLE: Maty Soul - "In My Village"

Check out Maty Soul - In My Village

“In My Village” is her latest video release from her debut album. Shot in Kingston, Jamaica and directed by Ras Kassa (director of Nas and Damian Marley’s “Land of Promise”), “In My Village” solidifies her stance as an artist with real roots. Light head-nodding reggae rhythms give way to lyrics that embrace universal one love. In the video, Maty Soul magically floats above the ground in the Jamaican countryside as she welcomes everyone ‘home’ to a place to stay ‘in her village.’

The singer recently wrapped production on the video for her next single, a remix of “Bad Time,” shooting in New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Paris and Avignon. Joined by up and coming rapper Stalley(recently opened for Mos Def) , “Bad Time” covers more urbane territory delivering a “Wake Up” call to listeners. Directed by Alexander Boure a.k.a. Walking Bass, Maty sings, with Stalley adding to the flow with a freestyle verse.
