A brief introduction to those of you who might be new to Soul-Patrol.com. The award winning Soul-Patrol.com website has been one of the leading voices on the internet in the arena of featuring the best on the net in Soul, Jazz, Slow Jams, Black Rock,Funk, Doo Wop, Neo Soul and about the culture since 1996.

We call the concept...
'GREAT BLACK MUSIC FROM THE ANCIENT TO THE FUTURE'

The publication you are reading now is called The Soul-Patrol Newsletter and it is designed to keep you abreast of news and views regarding this music/culture on a bi-monthly basis. Our objective is to provide you with information (CD Reviews, Concert Reviews, Commentary, Online Events, Offline Events, etc) on a timely basis that will lead to your participation either online or offline in the many musical/cultural things that the great artists we love provide for us.

Soul-Patrol West Coast Groove!

I know that there are a lot of you out there who may be under the impression that Soul-Patrol only operates on the East Coast of the United States.  I am here to correct that impression.

Say Hello to the 'STANK NASTY FUNK/SOULFUL GROOVES' of Rio Soul and to the '3AM FUNK' of Mr. Will Wheaton.

I fully realize that there are some of you out there who have never heard of either one of these artist, so I'm gonna tell you all a little bit about them, how you can check out some of their music here online and how those of you who are lucky enough to be in the Los Angeles California area over the next few weeks can check out these two exciting artists LIVE!!!!

Both of these two young artists are helping to keep the traditions of our music alive by performing ORIGINAL music, in the tradition of some of our legendary artists from the past, while giving us some direction for the future

For Example:

1, The music of Rio Soul has been compared to artists such as SLAVE, NEW BIRTH, SKYY, MIDNIGHT STAR, DAZZ BAND, BRAND NEW HEAVIES, etc...

Rio Soul'

2. The music of Will Wheaton has been compared to artists such as BARRY WHITE, TEDDY PENDEGRASS, ISAAC HAYES, CHUCK JACKSON, etc...

Will Wheaton'

We have been playing the music of both Rio Soul (click here to listen to a 45 min. broadcast of Rio Soul) and Will Wheaton (click here to listen to a 45 min. broadcast of Will Wheaton) here on Soul-Patrol.Net Radio for at least a year now and the feedback has been tremendous.  Both of these two young artists have earned the respect of Soul-Patrol.Net Radio listeners with their commitment to the traditions of Black music while at the same time, creating a pathway for the future of Black music.

Both Rio Soul and Will Wheaton are two artists who have proven that the quite literally put their money where their mouth is.  In addition to staying true to the cause, by producing some great music, they have both demonstrated their commitment to the past, present and future of 'Great Black Music From The Ancient To The Future' by being sponsors of Soul-Patrol for the past couple of years.

We think you should support them by going to their upcoming shows in Los Angeles and if you can't make it out to their shows, we think that you should go over to their respective websites, where you can not only find out more about them, but you can also buy their music (if you like it) and provide feedback to them via email:

Will Wheaton:

On a personal tip, I am EXTREMELY PROUD to be associated with younger artists such as these who...

"know where we have been and are using that knowlege to define where we are going..."

(YOU SHOULD BE PROUD OF THEM AS WELL...)
