1. Soul-Patrol.com Top Twenty CD's For 2002

2003 was an excellent year for music in my opinion.  Presented below, there is a quick summary of this past year's top 20 CD releases. Some of the artists are among the best known in the history of Black music, while some are not yet famous, but will be soon.  Either way,  you as a consumer have been prevented from hearing many of these releases on commercial radio because of their archaic programing policies.  Our hope is that not only will you take a listen to this music at the links below, but also consider making a purchase if you like the music that you hear.

Of course we have much more information on these CD's which space considerations do not allow us to put into this short newsletter.  In the January Issue of the Soul-Patrol Magazine you will find detailed trend analysis, commentary, selections for the best in Soul, Funk, Blues, Doo Wop, Best Emerging Artist, Best Individual Songs of 2002, Most Innovative CD's of 2002, predictions for 2003 and more .

You can get all of this and more by subscribing to the Soul-Patrol Digest Magazine at the following link

2. 2003 New Releases

Despite the sheer medicrity of commercial radio and the whining of the music industry,  the year 2002 was indeed a great year for newly releaesd music!  The year 2003 looks to be just as good with the following new releases coming our way in 2003.

I already have copies of new releases from Teena Marie, Michael B. Sutton, Terry Lynn Carington, B3 Bombers, Ted Mills (Blue Magic), Lester Chambers, Soul Generation, Hubert Laws, Bettye Lavette, Jazzhole, Swamp Dogg, Mandrill,  Gerald Veasly, Billy Taylor, Groove Doctors, Doug Lawrence, Russell Thompkins Jr, Will Wheaton, Peven Everett, Mighty Sam McClain, Jessie Davis, Parliment-Funkadelic.

In addition we are anticipating some more "great black music from the ancient to the future" from our friends at UME/HIP-O/Motown/Chess/Verve/Polydor/Mercury, Heads Up, Giant Step, etc. and of course the many independent artists here on Soul-Patrol.

We will be reviewing these CD's in Soul-Patrol Magazine and playing cuts from them for you on Soul-Patrol.Net Radio over the course of the next year, so stay tuned.
